Hello!

I'm Debbie Walkowski, the owner and designer behind Encore Designs.

I learned to sew at the age of six, and by the time I was twelve I had given up following patterns (much to my mother's frustration!) and begun creating my own designs. I have always been fascinated with garment construction and sewing techniques. I've been known to take apart many garments in search of the secrets to how they were created!

Sewing is one of the most creative forms of self-expression, and I encourage other sewers to make garments that express their own uniqueness. My pet peeve is boring, unimaginative garments! My designs incorporate interesting details often borrowed from historical clothing.

I am meticulous in my work, using CAD-based (computer-aided design) software for apparel design to create and grade my patterns. They are carefully engineered, technically precise, and include detailed instructions that are clearly illustrated.
